How to register a birth
Birth Registration in Estonia
For procedures of registering a birth in Estonia please see the information provided by the Estonian Vital Statistics Department on the official Tallinn City Website birth registration page.
Consular Birth Registration
If you want a birth to be registered at the British Embassy you will need to fill in an application form and bring it to the Embassy together with the originals of the following documents:
- child’s full local birth certificate
- parents’ passports
- parents’ full lenght birth certificates (the one which gives details of their parents, more information on full length birth certificates ) or naturalisation / registration certificate
- parents’ marriage certificate (if applicable)
- consular fee
There is no obligation to register your child, but by doing so you will receive a British-style birth certificate and a permanent record of the birth is maintained at the General Register Office in the UK. The certificate is also required when getting married and may be used to open a bank account in the UK. It can also be submitted in support of a British passport application.
