The First Sea Lord participated in an event at the Maritime Museum to present plans for the future reconstruction of the Seaplane Harbour; where he boarded the historic submarine Lembit, built in the United Kingdom.
British Ambassador Peter Carter commented, "This is an important visit, one of Sir Mark's first overseas trips since he became First Sea Lord and Chief of the Naval Staff in July 2009. It underlines the strength and depth of defence relations between Estonia and the UK". Ambassador Carter added, "Sir Mark's visit will provide a useful opportunity to discuss a wide range of security framework and operational issues, including progress with deploying the Estonian Navy's three mine countermeasures vessels, and areas of mutual interest in Afghanistan, given the significant contribution made by Estonian forces to the effort in Helmand Province".
